On The Farm

This year, we spent Thanksgiving with Cheryl's side of the family (and more), at a farmhouse in rural southwest Georgia.
Let's see if I get this right... Cheryl's brother's wife's sister's farm house. Yeah, that's it. It's near Colquitt, GA....roughly: Here. They don't live there -- it's more for vacationing, hunting, renting out, etc. |
|
Most of the cars of everyone that was there. I think there were 24 people, 3 large turkeys, 1 large ham, 7 pies, and plenty of tasty leftovers.
Cheryl's brother, Al, Cheryl's mom, me, and Cheryl, of course...Oh, and one of the turkey deep fryers at the left.
Cheryl's nephew, Cole (far left), and niece, Sara (far right) and a couple of their cousins.
Cheryl's sister-in-law, Jen...and....um....darn, I should know
this....too many new names for me, I guess. Possibly Cheryl's
brother's wife's brother? Sorry, whoever you are. (Having 36 aunts & uncles and countless cousins myself, you would think I'd be better at remembering names....but I'm terrible at it.) |

Cheryl and her mom. | |
We stayed at
The Tarrer Inn in Colquitt -- a
Bed & Breakfast that had a wonderful breakfast buffet (as if we
needed more food ;-). This is us in front of their Christmas tree, just before we left. |

What's that? Snow in Georgia?!
It kind of looks like snow, but...
It's cotton, ready to be harvested.
A lot of it already was. They bail it up into these huge blocks that they leave at the road side of the field, presumably awaiting a truck to come and pick it up. I wonder how they get this huge thing on to the trucks? |
